Politique économique africaine

Auteur : Jean-Paul Pougala

To overcome fear of migrants

Authors : collective work

This book is a pedagogical tool for any reader who would like to deepen the issue of socio-economic, cultural and political contribution of migration in Belgium and Europe. It is constructed so as to read the migrations by different prisms (housing, employment, teaching, demography, living together, history, religion, criminality ...). Migration could thus be a tool clumsily exploited by certain public policies, badly worked, and the new question would be how our society can allow everyone, migrant or not, to exploit its potential.

Author : Guy Rewenig

"The perilous and hilarious journey of an African in Luxembourg", that is what we can read on the back cover. Hilarious, maybe not all the time; But of humor, Guy Rewenig has it certainly. Just like a good dose of critical irony about his home country. In this address to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, lawyer Mwayé, ten years after his settlement in the Grand Duchy ("The orchestra conductor  with the bamboo wand", by the same author), recounts his efforts to become a true Luxembourger . All the little problems of the Grand Duchy go by, dissected by an African of origin who does his best to participate in the "nation branding".

AFRICA UNITE ! A history of Pan-Africanism

Author : Amzat Boukari-Yabara

Are we African? What is Africa? From this double interrogation, raised in the eighteenth century in the African diaspora deported to the Americas, emerged a vast intellectual, political and cultural movement which was dubbed Pan-Africanism at the turn of the twentieth century. This movement was, for Africans on both sides of the Atlantic, a cherished platform of encounters and mobilizations.

This book exposes an unknown aspect of the Second World War: the deportation of blacks to the concentration and extermination camps of Hitler's Germany. This has never been mentioned by historians neither by those who witnessed it. Africans, Americans, West Indians were arrested and deported because of their implication in fighting or resistance movements. Because they were black, these men and women were subject to all humiliations.Various testimonies tell us, among other things, that the Nuremberg laws punishing the "non-Aryans" were aimed not only at the Jews but also at the Blacks settled in Germany. These Afro-Germans, forcibly sterilized, were among the first deported by Hitler to the concentration camps. This book also tells us that these German concentration camps were not only the work of the Nazis, but the first were built in Namibia in 1904 to eradicate the Herero people who were repelling the colonization and armies of Chancellor Bismarck.
